Miracle Day is a one-day annual event that occurs on the first Wednesday in December. On that day, CIBC World Markets USA institutional sales and trading staff, and account executives in the Private Client Division join their colleagues around the world in donating their fees and commissions to children’s charities. Participating locations include offices in Canada, Europe, Australia and the USA. Since it began in 1984, Miracle Day has raised $46 million for approximately 250 programs that assist children’s hospitals, health research, emergency shelters, education, meal plans and more. In 2000 alone, Miracle Day raised a record-breaking $11.5 million in the United States -- almost 25% of the total $46 million raised since 1984, and 12% of the NYSE volume traded that day. Since 1999, CIBC World Markets has donated a portion of these proceeds to the Tolstoy Foundation, for its Alexandra Tolstoy Institute program, providing a total of $223,192 in funding. Every penny of this funding has gone into Tolstoy Foundation’s children’s educational/skills enhancement programs for disadvantaged children, held at the TF Center in Valley Cottage, New York. CIBC World Markets generous Miracle Day contributions continue to help the Foundation achieve its goal of improving the lives of disadvantaged children. CIBC World Markets is an investment and merchant banking operation of CIBC, offering a full range of integrated credit and capital markets products, securities, and brokerage and management services to corporate, government, and international clients.
Thank you CIBC World Markets USA, for including us in this outstanding
event!
Proceed with your investment strategies as you would normally, except: Place that day’s trades through David C. Janke, Executive Director, Investments, Private Client Division, CIBC Oppenheimer. ![]() David C. Janke annually volunteers one entire working day, and that of his support staff, to Miracle Day and for the benefit of the Tolstoy foundation’s children’s programs. A minimal amount of time is required to register with CIBC, and yet the benefits this has brought to the Foundation are tremendous - close to a quarter of a million dollars over the past two years. If you have an investment strategy for placing trades daily, weekly or even monthly, trade on the first Wednesday of December through CIBC Oppenheimer, and the Tolstoy Foundation’s children’s programs will benefit directly from these trades. You may also have contacts with other individuals or institutions willing to conduct their usual trading for that day through CIBC on behalf of the Tolstoy Foundation. Do not hesitate to reach out to them, for in this way - and with almost no effort - they will be aiding the humanitarian work of a very worthwhile charity. David C. Janke is willing to discuss details of the program with those who are interested. For contact information, call the Tolstoy Foundation Headquarters at (845) 268-6722, or e-mail the Foundation at info@tolstoyfoundation.org.
